Diet for Anorexics

You would be surprised to know that there are a large number of diets to lose weight on the internet. Half of them are fad diets. Many people go on crash diets for weight loss, but they are definitely very disillusioned when they do not find the diets they are giving them the expected results.

It has been suggested that protein supplementation for anorexics is not a viable cure for the condition. This is because anorexia nervosa is a serious psychological condition in which stick-thin girls with not an ounce of body fat believe themselves to be too fat.

If you think that people only have problems in being obese or overweight, think about people who are anorexic or bulimic who need to put on some pounds to be healthy and strong. To understand the calorie content of food, you need to know that foods have either high caloric value or low caloric value.

The problem with anorexia nervosa lies in the fact that it is a mental illness. For some reasons, which are still unknown, anorexic persons have a distorted image of their bodies. They are denying the fact that they are heavily underweight already. They still believe to be overweight and fat.

Anorexia is no joking matter. This is a disease that actually kills people. If you know someone who you think has anorexia make sure they get to a professional immediately so they do not do permanent damage to themselves. The main problem with the disease is that it is in essence a long term starvation diet.

People suffering from anorexia have an excessive obsession of fear of weight gain. Due to this, they are unable to maintain a normal body weight. They restrict their food intake by dieting, fasting, or excessive exercise. They will hardly eat at all.

Anorexia nervosa can be treated, and about three quarters of all anorexia patients will find that their conditions will improve through long-term treatment, although only about 40% of patients make a full recovery. With the proper psychological counseling and a healthy diet, patients can regain their weight and go on to live healthy lives.

She does not yet know that this is the eating disorder voice or even if this concept has been explained to her, she cannot yet accept it. So when you make a simple request and suggest she put butter on her toast, it becomes World War III.

If your daughter is not eating enough and not getting enough nutrition, or if she is throwing up what she does eat, her brain does not have what it needs to support healthy brain function and any desire she may have to recover.

The most effective way to cure anorexia is by psychotherapy or psychological counseling which should be combined with medical and nutritional support and guidance. The treatment though, may vary from patient to patient depending on the severity of the disorder.

It can be difficult to find a balance with parents and their daughters when it comes to this issue. Often girls with eating disorders are raised in high achieving homes and that may mean there are high expectations. This is not always the case but let’s just say this scenario is not uncommon.

Many people report problems using stimulants including addiction, depression, uncontrollable mood swings, and in the most unfortunate cases; death. To combat these issues, diet pill companies have begun tweaking their formulas to produce “stimulant-free” weight loss and diet pills.
